Meet Amy

We all love being a mom, before we talk about mom life, share with us who you are. We want to know your story- what do you love to do? what are you passionate about?

I have been working in small business for 20 years as an accountant. I have helped create and run businesses from the ground up. I currently own my own accounting consulting business which includes startup, reorganization and maintenance and management. I also run a nonprofit covered in faith and help women coming out of hard times, depression or just need help. I was inspired to do this when I fell into hard times and had so many people helping me and my family. I help them with clothes, shoes, purses, and anything they may need. I am currently re organizing to operate online as a thrift store as well to offer low cost items to those in need. I love helping people and thru the storms I have ridden out God is leading a path for me to use my talents to serve those around me for a greater purpose in life.

Mom is a title we are all proud of, tell us your birth story!

I have three biological children a 14 year old and twins who are 10 and a step daughter who is 21 and a grandson. With my first son my experience wasn’t so easy as I was monitored for two months before delivery twice a week. I was scheduled to deliver end of July and ended up being beginning of July. I was induced on a Wednesday evening and by Friday I was given two epidurals thru the process. I was super sick and when I would push he would go back up we had an emergency c section at midnight Friday after hours of labor. I was in hospital for two weeks with preeclampsia with very steady blood pressure. All is good and he is a 5″10 14 year old.

4 years later my life changed forever when I was pregnant with twins. I was ready to work a full time job with a MBA for federal government and God had different plans. With the twins I had a doctor change during pregnancy and three months before I had to change new doctors. I was put on bed rest the end of May and had three scares of pre term labor. At the end of June I became very sick and my blood pressures were running in high 190s to 200s. I had a c section on July 1st again 3 weeks preterm. We had an ultrasound specialist for them and had spot that was a concern early on for our son. After delivery both babies were rushed to NICU our daughter Mia was just very small but Cameron our son he wasn’t breathing very well. They had to rush him to an incubator. He wasn’t allowed any visitors and come Friday he was rushed in an ambulance to children’s hospital. I never got to hold him and they brought him up to my room in an incubator I got to touch him and he was gone with his dad for 15 days until me and my daughter could get released to go see him. Day five he wasn’t doing good and my family went to see him what they thought may be last time. He pulled thru and I got to see him about 20 days after birth in Children’s. We had a 4 year old at that time that stayed with family thank God. The twins are 10 now very active Cameron still has some asthma and lung issues, but he is good now.

What advice do you have for first time moms?
