Our readers want to get to know you first, tell us about YOU what is your story?
Hi! I love being a mother of 10 children, 22 down to 4 years old. My husband and I love children and are a great team, but we never set out to have a large family. The idea grew on us because we see children as a blessing and enjoy them. We live in a small mountain town in Colorado. Since our home is chaos, it is a gift to live in a simple place with God’s beauty surrounding us. I start my days early with coffee doused with nut pods creamer, reading the Bible and then head to exercise. After I return, I am homeschooling the kids and often don’t leave the house. I know it is a privilege to be able to stay home. Even though it is often very difficult. I really enjoy making our home a haven and a place of love and warmth. My kids are involved in the local school with sports and other community activities. In the last few years, I added a little side hustle which I love! I do 2 things to encourage women…. I am a make up artist and also a StrengthsFinder advisor. Both of these endeavors allow me to encourage women and others in their natural God-given beauty and help draw it out and enhance it :-)! I do some of this out of the home, but have learned how to do most of it virtually so that I can help people outside of my little town. I also enjoy reading and have recently joined a book club. I am currently reading Emma, 10 ways to destroy a child’s imagination, and a few theology books!
Now let’s talk business, what do you do? Have you always wanted to have your own business- what inspired you to go down this journey?
As mentioned earlier, my side hustle is actually a very natural part of my everyday life. I enjoy encouraging other moms and women. Although make up is definitely not everything, it has been fun to show women how to choose the right colors and apply your make up in less than five minutes can help you feel like you’ve got your game face on and ready to take on the day 🙂 I love enhancing their beauty and helping them see the beauty that they have. As for my other endeavor, since my family has learned so much from this strengths- finder tool, I have started training and meeting with others to help them learn their strengths and how to focus on their strengths rather than weaknesses. It has been fun to work with families, businesses, and individuals.
What advice do you have for moms who want to start a business?
Life is full of lessons, what has motherhood taught you?
Humility is key.
just for fun
Did you make a New Year’s resolution? If yes, what is it? If no, why?
I don’t want to knock NYR’s, but I don’t believe they materialize. I believe in setting intentions to create what we want in the New year, but it needs to start before Jan. 1st and needs to have a BIG reason behind its importance (WHY) to stay sticky!
