Before we talk about your business, tell us who you are?
Hi everyone! I am a doting mom of two little ones and a wife. I grew up in the suburbs of Houston and love this city! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biochemistry and Master’s in Medical Sciences. I grew up wanting to be a physician but soon decided that this wasn’t the right fit for me.
In my spare time, I love coming up with creative entrepreneurial ideas, cook, eat and cuddle with my babies!
Now lets talk business, what sets you apart? How did you start on your journey?
I am an entrepreneur by nature, and this is definitely thanks to how my parents raised my brother and I: to be independent and to work for ourselves!
We come from a modest background and I love that. I started my first startup in recruiting and HR consulting in 2016 when I was pregnant with my son because I wanted to be independent and I knew I could do it. That startup has now serviced over 60 clients to date and is still active and running successfully.
I then had an itch to start another startup in a totally different niche: kids & family. I wanted to help struggling parents help instill healthy sleep habits in their children by becoming a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, so I got my certification when I was on maternity “leave” with my baby girl. I have to say, one of the biggest reasons that I am so extremely proud of The Sleepy Cub is that it is a company with a cause! A percentage of our profits goes to our local women’s shelter where we actively work with them to end physical and mental abuse. It is an amazing opportunity to give to the community at a time when the world is truly on its head!
I am a hard worker and truly believe in both of my companies’ vision. I want to help start up companies scale and also assist parents by teaching them the importance of healthy sleep habits.
I routinely publish blogs on both of my companies’ websites and also have started writing and publishing e-books!
Here are some things that set me apart:
1. My passion and drive to do more with less and provide unequivocal value add
2. Find and treat the problem at its root, so that its fixed permanently
3. Be a partner and work WITH you for years to come
4. High sense of urgency
5. My scientific and analytical background
What advice do you have for moms who want to start a business?
What podcast do you recommend?
It is so inspiring to hear entrepreneur’s stories and how their failures actually led to their successes. It is such an important lesson to learn because everyone focuses on successes and we objectify it – but I don’t think you can succeed unless you fail and that is exactly what this podcast is about.
