Meet Randi

Our readers want to get to know you first, tell us about YOU- what is your story?

I began a passion for fashion early in my childhood and it grew more into high school as I wanted to be different, which drove me to get a degree in design and production at Colorado State University. I loved putting my creations on paper and seeing them come alive! It allowed me the opportunity to head off to the big city and move across country knowing only my roommate. We lived in a small one bedroom apartment right in Manhattan, NY. I loved getting to be right in the center of fashion, work with a designer and see parts of the country I hadn’t seen before. Having this opportunity, made me realize what I truly wanted and that was a family. I knew the lifestyle I was currently in wasn’t what I saw for my future family.

I decided to go back to Colorado and be close to family. I searched hard to find a job in the industry here in Colorado but there are few and far between. I knew it would always be a passion and goal to get back into and I knew God would place those opportunities in front of me when it was time. Not long after I left NY I met my amazing husband and we began our lives together and building our family.

After years of being present at home I prayed for an opportunity to present itself for me to begin stepping into my dream of opening my own boutique and becoming an entrepreneur. A little over 3 years ago that dream came true and Charlee Gene Boutique opened. It was and always will start with my children and husband, which is where the name stems from. My passion is to show women what Charlee Gene is; that is to be different, unique, affordable, fashion forward for women all shapes and sizes. My goal when I started is to make Charlee Gene shine to the world, show my children they can do anything they are passionate about, and staying true to who I am and allowing my priorities always to be God first, husband, children, then career.

Now let's talk business, what do you do? Have you always wanted to have your own business- What inspired you to go down this journey?

I own a women’s and girl’s clothing and accessories boutique. I always wanted to become a designer and design clothes but if you would have asked 10 years ago if I would own my own business I probably would have said no as I had no idea how to start a business! My journey of starting my business began when I met a gal from Texas who was doing exactly what I wanted to do. She has and will always be my mentor!!

What advice do you have for moms who want to start a business?

randi, life is full of lessons? what has motherhood taught you?

Patience and Time. We all have heard how fast time goes so don’t waste any minute. I know it’s hard but find joy and laughter in each moment. The most rewarding job you will have is being a mom. You may not see the reward instantly but you were gifted your children and you are the best fit for them.

DO NOT compare yourself to any other mom. Please listen to this one as it will suck the joy out of you being the best mom to YOUR children. And one last thing you have to do is take time for yourself.

SELF CARE is so important to be able to be the best mom and wife. Make it a priority each day even if it’s just a few minutes.

just for fun
